Rooney Signs New 5 Year Contract
It was a turmultuous week for United.
Sir Alex Ferguson took matters into his own hands. Clearly fed up with the speculation over Rooney’s future, Sir Alex outed the strikers desire to leave Old Trafford in a extraordinary Press Conference. However, questions still remain as to whether Rooney did indeed want to leave or was it transfer negotiations at their most cynical, orchestrated by Rooney’s agent Paul Stretford.
Either way, two days after the press conference, Rooney had penned a new deal keeping him Man Utd until 2015.
The most ardent Ferguson fans, and I’m one, believe the whole of the weeks events were shrewdly masterminded by the maestro himself. For what reasons are debatable. But very little happens at Old Trafford without Fergie’s say so….
